“This was inspired by a tune by UK MC Danny (aka Fallacy) and grime producer Fusion called ‘The Groundbreaker’. It’s still sounds sick now … I just checked it on Youtube!

When it dropped in the early 2000s, it was one of the first UK hip-hop tunes that was distinctly UK yet had the hype feel of a US tune. We toured together in Australia when he was MCing with MJ Cole (I think) and he is a sick MC.

I wanted to do something that was very different from a breaks or garage record and outside of any particular scene. It was definitely that, and so BLIM and I had fun doing a more straight down the line breaks remix which worked pretty well. Daddy Skitz did a cool remix too.

Rodney P did the vocal and he’s an ace MC no doubt. The lyrics are very similar to a session he did for the Stanton Warriors around the same time, and although ‘Come Let me Know’ came out first, I think it could have had a little more effort put in lyrically. You win some you lose some. It’s a fun party tune and maybe I’ll revisit it as I have the accapella off the vinyl still floating about.

Jamie Hewlett’s company Zombie Flesh Eaters (of Gorillaz / Tank Girl fame) contributed to a dope video for it that was set around West London’s iconic Trellick Tower – we will dig it out and get it up in the Gallery.”
